Hi I am currently a senior and I want to major in nursing but I am having trouble of where to go to... my choices are to go to the Philippines or stay here in America.... I'm just going to tell you guys what I am stressing about atm.

My parents and my brother wants me and my twin sister to go to college in the Philippines. According to my cousin and my grandparents who she says that are secretly against it want me to stay in the U.S. and major nursing here.

Here is the problem we were both so excited because according to my parents it would be easier to go to college in the Philippines because you go straight to the nursing program, and the tuition fee they can handle. They told me my Aunt who went to college in the Philippines graduated there is now a head nurse here.... BUT according to my friend and cousin (who are against us going school there) people who major in nursing and grad from the Philippines, most are not working as a nurse or they would not let them work as a nurse in the U.S.

Another reason why parents want us to go to the Philippines because they cannot afford Tuition here in Las Vegas and so its better for us in the Philippines.

So we are currently stuck and is need of help... Our GPA in high school is like 3.5 or above so we do not know who to listen, and which is better... My other option was to join the military because I heard that if you serve they can pay for your tuition.

So we do not know what to do we are both stressed.... So any advice? plzzz anything?

One major reason not to study nursing in the Philippines is you will have an exceptionally difficult time getting a license in California. If you will never, ever work in California, then you might not be at a disadvantage studying nursing in the Philippines.

Thank you for your advice :)

You're not in California (PH grads are mostly affected), so might as well go to the Philippines to get your BSN degree. But if you consider going to a community college to pursue ADN first, that is a very good option too. You can avail FAFSA for your tuition, and spend less money for your miscellaneous expenses. Then once you get your RN license in Nevada, you can always get your BSN degree through the RN-BSN program (a lot of schools are offering this program online). At the end of the day, it's your decision that prevails. Good luck!
