Safe practice

Hi all,

It has been more than 5 years since i graduated from nursing program. I have met all the registration requirements except the safe practice. I had contacted CNO and they said if I choose to return back to India (my home country) to do practicum hours where I hold registration as a nurse, it will be accepted by CNO. They also sent me relevant forms required to be submitted to the college after completion of these hours. But the most confusing thing is how many hours? I called them few times as well, they said there is no minimum hours that college specifies. Their exact reply was- " Note that if you are returning to practice there is no stipulation as to how many hours your need to practice for"

I had graduated in 2011 and it has been more than 5 years now and I dont have any nursing practice. So I would like to know how many hours should I do as I am planning to do it next month? If anyone has gone through the same situation and got accepted by CNO, how many hours did you do???

Your responses will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nick

Hey Nick, Same situation here. I met all other requirements but except safe practice. One of my friend in the same situation and contacted CNO, They send some information about do competency courses in Ontario and do 400 hours of clinical experience from any hospital in Ontario. So I was thinking the same if we do from India too. just call them and ask about it. Hope this help you. I was waiting for my day shift to finish and I will call them too. Let me know is there any updates please.

It is up to you how many hours, but suggest you look further ahead to when you are licensed and looking for work in Ontario. You will need to list your previous places of and duration of employment on your resume, if you were only employed for three-four months with your previous employer in India, it won't look good on your resume.

Did you finally got yor eligibility
