Just been reading a thread regarding where to level the transducers for calculation of CPP using MAP and ICP.

I last worked in Neuro ICU in 2002.

Then we levelled the art' transducer at the level of the atrium, and the ICP transducer at the level of the tragus.

In the thread they are discussing levelling the art line at the level of the tragus (if patient is head up by 30 degrees) to give a more accurate recording of the brain blood pressure, which will be around 30mmHg lower than at the atrium.

It's suggested that this reading should be used for calculation of CPP.

We always had monitors that calculated the CPP, so I guess you would have to either manually move the art transducer to the tragus when you wanted to record the CPP, or have 2 different transducers for brain BP and systemic BP

Seems like in the US CRNAs tend to level the a line at the tragus, some ICUs do too, but some level at the atrium.

Wondered if anything had changed in the UK?
