International Travel Nursing

Hey y'all! I am currently in my last semester of high school, preparing to start community college in August. I want to study nursing with the hopes of traveling. Is being an international travel nurse an option, or would it be too much work having to take additional classes and obtain additional certifications pre country? Is there a nursing job that would enable me to travel around the world helping countries in need or should I look into another field that would allow me to do so?

No such thing as international travel nurses. Each country will have its own requirements both as a nurse but also immigration allowing you to live and work. There are volunteer ways and also jobs wi doctors without borders however they require experience

There are things like MSF and international red cross. I know some people just flat out work abroad and get the visas, negotiate the particulars of that country (usually you need to be pretty fluent in that language). There are probably oprotunities in embassies etc, but also probably preference for diplomats' partners.

There's tons of volunteer stuff. Tons. Doing volunteer stuff just means creating a work situation with flexibility or time off. You're quite young and might still be able to go abroad with programs like AFS or Rotary for high schoolers. Doing school organized study abroad is mixed because you pay them for credits in a way that may not actually be cost effective.

Volunteering is never free because they take care of you and train you. Get experience little by little and you'll be good to go later on. Off the top of my head, I seem to remember Alabama Birmingham had a global health option for their BSN with a rotation in Haiti? Maybe John Hopkins too?
