Canadian LPN looking to live/work in NYC

I just graduated from my LPN program in BC. I am looking to relocate to live and work in NYC and was hoping for some advice and or steps to take. If anyone could assist that would be great.

If anyone could please help me with step by step instructions, I would be very appreciative.. I am so confused on how to go about this. Its always been a dream of mine to work and live in NYC.

Some questions I had were

1. What type of Visa should I be applying for or would i be eligible for

2. I saw a few pages which informed me i would have to take some tests..

Please assist :)

LPN does not meet the requirements for a TN or other visa. RN is the minimum for a visa

Therefore there is no way for an employer to sponsor an IEN LPN. There are minimal jobs for LPNs in NYC. There are many new grad NY educated LPNs competing for few LPN jobs. Many typical LPN jobs are now filled by the surplus of ASN RNs & non experienced/non specialized RNs

You would need to apply for a NY nursing license by examination as an IEN and ultimately pass the NCLEX-PN

You'd have a chance qualify for a TN visa if you went back to school for your RN/BScN but without experience or specialized training there is minimal chance of a job offer.
