Are there any American trained nurses working in London or Geneva out there? I am looking at transfering from the US to overseas, but want to stay with HCA Columbia family of hospitals. Any advice, suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If your in the UK and have experiences with US nurses any comments would be most welcome.

Thanks,

R

first you have to register with the nmc (http://www.nmc-org or call 02073677181) and request a packet to obtain registration required to work as a nurse in the uk. this process is a 2 step application and is rather lengthly takes~8 to 10 weeks. then you need to find employment in the uk with an employment id reference required when applying for your work visa at the british embassy in the us. or you can attempt to find a nursing sponsorship which will take care of all the above....you will then be obligated to work for only them for a period of time. this is a lot of red tape to go through...i'm in the process myself....but i think its worth it!!! england is absolutely beautiful and all the people i've met on vacation have been great. best of luck!
