Intravenous infusion question.

We have recently had a man admitted who required an intravenous infusion inserted incorporating and infusion pump. The Rn's I work with couldnt tell me anything about this as they " havent done it for years.

What is our responsibility in relation to management of the IV and pump in relation to being and EN ( LPN)?

What are some of the other complications associated, I know about Thrombophlebitis can someone tell me what others are and what to do about them.
