Local places to buy scrubs?

U.S.A. Indiana

Published

I'm wondering if anyone has good recommendations for stores to buy scrubs, shoes, stethoscopes, etc...

I know there are many on the internet, but I would rather purchase locally if I can. That way I can try them on & such.

I am about an hour north of Indy & there is one place in Kokomo I can go, but it's pretty small. I wouldn't mind a couple others for comparison shopping:)

Ideas?

I found this on the "Spotlight On Nursing" website sponsor list, and just did a copy and paste. Scrubs & Beyond, 2 Indy locations:

I'm probably going to check out the place in Edinburgh around Sunday. It will be my first time ever shopping for scrubs & stuff, so I'll post about my findings after that shopping trip.

For shoes, I am sticking with New Balance cross trainers and inserting gel insoles. (I'm gellin'!) They have been good for my feet in other physically demanding jobs. My feet are very wide at the ball and toes, but not at the heel - basically duck feet - and this brand seems to fit me very well.

Hey, just an FYI...if you are an IU student, take your ID in, Scrubs N Beyond gives IU students a discount. :)

Rampart this is Squad 51.

Wow, I loved that show as a kid! Adam-12, too. Funny, now my brother is a police officer, and I'm going to be a nurse. Okay, so I'm not a paramedic, but closer to it than CPA!

Thanks again for all the great suggestions!

We are going to Edinburg tonight & Scrubs & Beyond tomorrow. I'll let you know if they are worth the trip.;)

Sorry, I never posted back here after going to TJ Uniforms at Edinburgh Premium Outlets. The scrub selection was decent, but I'm not sure how the prices compare since this was my first scrub purchase. I got two Cherokee print tops off the clearance rack, and two regular price Cherokee elastic waist, side-pocket pants, and the total after taxes was $55 and some change. That was without the discount they said I'll get the next time.

They give a 10% discount to hospital employees - any hospital - AFTER the first visit, if you show your ID badge. A lady who started working at the same hospital the same day as me was somehow lucky enough to get the discount her first time going to TJ's. I think she bought a bunch of the more expensive scrubs, though, so maybe that's why.

The store is located between PacSun and Rue21, and across the lane from Le Gourmet Chef. Hope that helps.

Heather, do let us know how this place compares with any others you have been to.

:)

my husband buys all his scrubs at "Scrubs and beyond", they are less then $ 20 per set. nice colors available. and they have shoes and other stuff, but im not sure how much they are on that stuff. plus they have a discount program for some schools, and a frequent buyer program with a card you can get stamped and get a certain % off when its filled.

Hello everyone,

I'm reporting back on the places I went this past weekend for school uniforms:) We are required to wear all white, so that limited my selection quite a bit, but I found what I was looking for at Scrubs & Beyond on 82nd street in Indy. Here are the places I looked:

1. Scrubs & Beyond: Good scrub selection with 10% discount for IU students (and probably others as well). Tons of prints & cute solids, great variety of shoes. A few stethoscopes. I also bought a pen light for 6.00. I ended up with two uniforms, one a Nu Dimension set 21.99 for pant & 18.99 for top, the other was a LA Rose top w/tieback for 17.99 & a Cherokee pant for 14.99. They did have the plain scrub sets for I think 15.99 if you bought 2 sets but they didn't have white. They had lots of lab coats but none with a gathered back.

2. TJ Uniforms: Edinburgh Outlet. Lots more prints & solid colors than whites. Smaller than Scrubs & Beyond, but about the same prices. Around $20-$23 each piece for the cutesy stuff, less for the plain.

3. Life Uniforms: Castleton Shopping Mall. Small store, but surprisingly good selection. Good selection of lab coats. They carry compression socks & pocket protectors also. Prices were around the same as other two & they give a local hospital discount. Staff was very helpful but had the country music so loud I couldn't think straight & left:uhoh3:

4. Uniform Store: Kokomo, beside Best Buy. Smaller store, very good selection of both whites & print/colors. More whites probably due to local IU campus. Similar prices with the most friendly & helpful staff. Good shoe selection & a few stethoscopes.

Overall the stores were all comparable. I liked being able to try on different sizes, but internet prices are better if you shop sales & know what you are buying. It would be difficult to shop on the Internet I think without knowing exactly what you are looking for as there seems to be a big size discrepancy between brands.

Thanks to all who responded. Good luck shopping!

Heather

I'm going scrubs shopping for school in the next couple of days. I'm going to go probably to the Uniform Shop in Kokomo, just because I don't know of any other stores nearby. Does anyone know of any others? Lafayette? or Kokomo?

There's a site at www.findscrubs.com that has just about all local stores listed (for my area at least.)
