Introductions

U.S.A. Indiana

Hi everyone! I just thought I'd start the new State forums off with an introduction thread. Please feel free to reply to this thread if you wish. Otherwise, feel free to start a new topic if you wish to discuss other topics that are local or state related. Enjoy!

Are there any hospitals in Indiana whereby unionization has occurred? Thanks in advance.

Hi Barb,

The VA hospital in Indianapolis has a union for nurses and other professionals (MDs, dentists, therapists, etc.). There was a union already in place (SEIU) for jobs such as housekeeping, CNAs, LPNs, kitchen, and other service employees). The union in place for professionals is for federal employees.

I grew up on the SW side of Chicago and ended up in Porter County after a series of bizarre circumstances that are too convoluted and too boring to get into. ;) I graduated from IUN in May, 1982, with an ADN and in 2001 with a Bachelor's in General Studies-concentration in behavioral sciences. Has anybody been through IUN's RN to BSN program? Is it as full of BS as some have suggested? I've also heard that Purdue Cal's 2+2 RN to BSN program is much better in every way than the IUN thing. I live very close to PNC, but their RN to BSN program is in conjunction with Valpo Univ: you attend VU but pay PNC tuition. The only rub is you HAVE to be a PNC grad.
I am a PNC grad & did the VU RN-BSN route. I'm glad I did. I hope to got to IUPUI for my MSN. PNC how has a BSN completion program. I believe it started the fall of 2004. Hope that helps.

I am an ED nurse and grad student...

Where's the best ED to work for a guy going to school?

Hi everyone. I've been a "lurker" here for a while, but have tried to start posting more. I'm 21 and have a beautiful 10-month-old son, and a great husband who works as a chef at an awesome downtown Lafayette restaurant. I'm currently in the nail-biting stage of waiting to hear if I've been accepted into the RN program at Ivy Tech-Lafayette. Reading all of your similar stories is really helping with my anxiety! :)

Specializes in Pediatrics.

I am a new Indiana State University BSN Grad. I am awaiting my paperwork to go through so I can take the boards! I have a grad nurse job at a small rural hospital on the west side of Indianapolis. If anyone here went to ISU or has any tips for the NCLEX or just being a new nurse in general, please feel free to share! :nurse:

Hello!

I am from NW Indiana, new to the medical field I guess you could say:). I attended Purdue University and graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts and Behavioral Sciences degree in 12/2007. Currently in the Social Work field and I found out I went to school for the wrong thing! My dream is to become a RN and at the moment I am getting ready to CNA, then take my pre-reqs and get into Purdue's BSN program. I want to become a CNA so I can work in the medical field and get a feel for it while I am going to school to become a RN. Good Luck to everybody!!
