Very Confused About Rn-bsn

U.S.A. Illinois

Published

Hi,

I'm basically clueless at this point. I've been bouncing around between nursing and pre-med and i think I've finally come to the conclusion that I want to be an OT, with the idea that I'd get a BSN and then Masters in OT.

How long would it take for me to get my BSN? And does anyone know if I can do so through Harper College?

THANKS!

Dunno about Harper, I'd suggest you go search their website yourself. Schools generally list somewhere what degrees they offer.

As for getting your BSN, it depends what degree you get as an OT. If you get an associate's, you can get your RN and an associate's degree before going on to enter an RN-to-BSN program. If you end up with a bachelor's you have a few more options. You could take an accelerated BSN program, or one of the Entry-level MSN programs in Chicago, in addition to going to a community college to get your ASN.

Also, if you intend on getting into nursing, I would look at the pre-reqs now while you can incorporate them into your pre-med curriculum. If you do it right, the two can heavily overlap, and it will save you time and money later.
