My wife is wanting to go to the nursing school in Springfield. The only problem we are having is finding ther money. She has a low GPA from college a few years ago. She is knowledgable about the medical field and is her dream to be a nurse. Any help would be appreciated.

Although i dont regularly encourage people to go to facilities for "scholarship" money, she may want to get her CNA, work at one of the local hospitals until she is eligable to apply for their scholarship programs. Most of their auxillary groups have some scholarship money available too. Just be aware she will have to return to their facility to "pay off" her loan. I dont like the idea of being tied to someplace after one graduates from nursing school, simply because most dont really know what type nursing or where they want to work. But, sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Is she a LPN already?,, check LLCC bridge program,, its a good program.

I work at Memorial in Springfield and they have all kinds of tuition reimbursement programs for employees and also for those wanting to go to nursing school. Of course you have to commit to work there for a time, so many years for the amount of money you borrow. But it's worth it. MMC is a great place to work!

I did clinicals at MMC, and was thinking that when i replied. LOL Good luck.

She may want to get her CNA and get her foot in the door for a few months, then go for the scholarships.

This is what I want to do next year. I want to become a CNA and then find an employer who has tuition assistance to become a LPN. :)
