Anyone REJECTED from Chamberlain (Addison)?

U.S.A. Illinois

Hello,

Has anyone applied for Summer/Fall/Spring semester at Chamberlain's BSN program in Addison, IL and gotten REJECTED? If so, I'd love to know what you applie with (GPA, A2 scores, letters of recommendation). I am very scared that I won't get in because my GPA is terrible. I got an 85% on the A2, and sent in two letters of rec's as well as a personal essay explaining my low grades. I am completing a BA in Psychology and switching careers because I decided nursing is the right choice for me after being a caretaker for 3 years. Any information would be helpful! Thank you to all!

Have you spoken with your advisor about your concerns? I think it is normal to feel nervous about getting accepted. I am currently a student at Chamberlain and I love it! What is your GPA if you don't mind me asking? I would say that they review the files in order of GPA, but that doesn't mean that everyone applying that semester will have a 4.0 which would be crazy.

What semester are you looking to apply for? :) Hope this helps.

Hi, sunkisst

I applied with 85% on the A2 Hesi (High 90s in Math and Reading and mid 70s in Science). I got a 3.0 from a 2 year college (mostly pre-nursing courses) and I am finishing my B.A. in Psychology but my GPA is at 2.5. I had a great adviser, Angela, who recommended that I write a letter or personal statement explaining my less than perfect GPA. I also sent in 2 letters of recommendations, one from an employer and one from a professor (I am a research assistant in his lab). Overall, I believe my application is strong but I am worried I will be denied based on GPA. :/

Thanks for reading!

PS. I applied for Summer 10... but my application was complete only a week and a half ago because some schools did not send my transcripts on time. I am a nervous wreck! Chamberlain is my #1 choice school!

I thought the minimum GPA was a 2.75 for chamberlain? Im not certain though. Angela is wonderful! She was my advisor and I have nothing but great things to say about her. All of the advisors there are wonderful there. I would say all you can do is wait. I think you have a chance of getting in because of your hesi score and your letters of recommendation. My best advice is think positive and if you don't get in, retake some classes to raise your GPA. :) I wish the best of luck to you. Please keep me updated and let me know what happens. If you need to talk, Im here :)

It is 2.75 which is what worries me. However, Angela knew that my GPA was low and told me to go ahead with my application. He reviewed my file before submitting it to the admissions committee. I really want to get in... I'll keep you updated. Thank for your help thus far! :)

When will you find out if you got in or not? Soon I would hope??? Did they say when they will be mailing out acceptance letters?? Your welcome, but I wish I would have been more help! :(

Just know that if you were to get rejected you are not the only one in that boat. Last year I tried to apply to get into a community college nursing program and was denied, with a 3.9 GPA in the courses that they looked at for nursing specifically which is what counts. All because someone scored 1% higher than I did on the entrance exam, and they only had a 3.4 GPA in the prereq courses. I was devasted when I got the rejection letter and I cried like no other, but the important thing was I didn't give up. If I had, I would have never applied to Chamberlain and wouldnt be a nursing student today. My point is, dont ever give up on your dream. Chase hard for what you want, because its worth it! :)

You can do this! :)

Hey How are you. My situation is similar to yours and I would like to know if you ever got accepted. And please let me know some of the steps you have taken to make your application more appealing and outstanding. Thank you so much.

Hey I am currently a Biomedical major. I really wanted to switch into the BSN program at Chamberlain Jax,Fl campus. Anyways my GPA is a bit low like yours. And I was wondering how did your application process go. Did you get accepted?? I hope you did. Anyways could you please let me know a few steps you have taken to make your application more appealing and outstanding. Thank you so much.

Hi Vladak and Mike...I was wondering how your admissions and application process went and if either of you were admitted? I hope so. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

chamberlain starts looking at applicants with at least an 85% on thier HESI and a gpa of around a 3.0 just to stay competitive, but if u have real good grades in your science classes like chem n anatomy they can still accept you. It really counts mostly on your HESI entrance exam..its what they look at the most

Did you get into chamberlain ?
