drop a line if your from Joliet Junior college ...and if youll be applying to their program.

I'll be transferring there after this semester:yeah:

I'm a JJC student, and I plan to apply (again) to their program. I plan to retake the TEAS in hopes for a higher score, which will hopefully improve my chances of getting in.

I Keep debating weather to apply to their program or just transfer to a private school and get in faster...JJC would be cheaper....if you dont mind me asking, what was/is your gpa....why didnt you get in? (please dont take these questions the wrong way) just want to know how competitive JJC really is...

I don't mind the questions at all.:nuke:

My GPA isn't the best. I believe I'm sitting at a 2.9-3.0ish. Mary Beth Luna was one of the advisors I spoke to, and she told me that in order to get into the program, I need to score in the 90s on the TEAS exam. Unfortunately, I only got a 75. I think partially that has to do with the fact that I didn't have enough time to complete the math portion (math is NOT my strong suit), so that brought my number down overall.

She also suggested that I retake my English 101 course over - I got a C in it, thanks to the professor that I took. It's like it killed him to give anyone anything higher than a C on any essay assignments. :icon_roll At this point, I'm not sure if I want to spend more money retaking these courses or not.

From what I have been told by the advisors, they accept 88 students per semester, and these last few semesters, over 300 applied. The only courses that are looked at and figured into your GPA are English 101, Psychology 101, Psychology 215, Health 109, and A&P I & II. I may be forgetting a course or two - I'm just going by memory.

Anyways, if you have any other questions at all, please feel free to ask away.

i have the same problem...all my grades are A's and B's except for eng101 and I got a C on every paper including the findal...Ive been worried that that C is going to haunt me. Mary Luna is my Nurs100 teacher ( which im really thankful for...because of all the useful info she gives us about the nursing program) but a C in one of the courses that count is really not going to be a competitve enough grade to get into a community college nursing progra...thats why I want to transfer to a small private school...but we will see how it works out.

How was the teas test? I heard you cant use a calculater on the math portion? Math like you said is not one of my best subjects...and I think that will hurt me...did you buy any study aids for the teas?

Yeah, you are correct - You are not allowed to use any calculators for the math portion.

I did buy the TEAS study guide and looked over that as much as I could. It was about $40 or so.

This is the exact book I have, and found it on ebay for cheaper - just in case you are interested..

I also went to the library and checked out a few other Nursing school entrance exam guides and those helped me out as well. I plan to check those books out again to give myself a refresher, and I have a family member who will tutor me on the math stuff.

Are you just taking Nursing 100 right now, or are you in any other courses too?

Have you decided on which college to go to? I've been googling different colleges in the Chicagoland area, and have been requesting informational packets on all of them. I did see that Robert Morris has an associate's program, however the cost is going to be around 18K a year.:icon_roll

i was gonna go there.. but the savings arent worth the wait so i have decided to go the private school way.

I most likely will be going to a private school (because the wait like u said isnt worth it) Im looking at Trinity christian college or St. Xavier. Gsxtreme1987 what private school are u at/going to?

Im trying to find the quickest route...and it seems private school would help me achieve that.

well i decided to just do LPN then go back to school get my bachelors in psych.

I will be attending Americare in schaumburg, il. Its $17000 for a LPN program but its worth it to me.

Those are two of the colleges that I'm also planning on looking at also. Trinity has a transfer visit day on March 3rd I believe, and I may attend.

I went already...the campust is GORGEOUS, and its a very small school...the only thing I dont like is ive heard that they teach christian values in all their classes...I just feel that not all students there are christians, and should leave that seperate from their courses...st xavier doesnt...(because of thier diverse population)...other wise trinitys nursing program is supposed to be really strong
