Hello! I have been reading alot of your posts for some time now while I was anguishing with the decision of a career change. Been a nurse now for 10 years, began in the operating room until last year then went to med surg, what a reality shock!! My gut has always told me hospice, but always afraid to make the change. Took me 2 months to decide, but I did it, resigned from my employer of ten years, and took a $4.00 hour pay cut. I'm looking forward to the challenge, time!!!! to spend with patients and get to know them. I'm sure most of you know when you have 6-7 patients in the hospital, it can be quite frazzling, all lights on at the same time, lab work?? who has time to look at that??? people tend to room numbers not names. Anyway, I plan to return cause I'm sure to have a million questions!!!! and look forward to all of your expert help!!!

Welcome, steth, and good luck to you in your new job! I am sure you will find it very rewarding. We'll be here for you!

I'm going to be new in Hospice myself, after 12 years of LTC, averaging anywhere from 28 to 47 patients and am so looking forward to the change... I doubt I'll ever regret the move...

Welcome to you both! I hope that you end up loving this job as much as I do :D - and these boards are a great place to meet some great people.....

Cheers!

Lucy
