Kathryn Grigsby, Director of Hospice of Baton Rouge which is about 65 miles away from New Orleans shared the following message with NHPCO leadership, "The situation is dire. The most pressing need is for medical support. If there are nurses who can come, we need them as well as physicians. The enormity of need is difficult to comprehend. If there are any medical professionals who can come, we can facilitate them rapidly."

Members in the Gulf Coast region have reported urgent needs for:

- Nurses who can travel. Hospice of Baton Rouge, has indicated they will have rooms for those able to travel and offer services.

- Social workers, chaplains, and other bereavement professionals. They will be needed in the weeks and months ahead.

- Professionals able to offer technical assistance regarding these overwhelming circumstances.

- Financial donations to help purchase needed supplies.

Members wishing to offer staff support or supplies should contact Andy Duncan, 703/837-3145 or [email protected], to indicate what resources they are able to offer. NHPCO will follow up with those offering support once the most immediate needs are identified.

I am a dialysis nurse. Is there a place for the renal patients to dialyze and is there adequate staff? Please direct me to whomever I need to contact. Thanks, Mary
