Some nurses work for as many as five agencies at the same time, although they may not have active cases or visit rosters at each at the same time. It is up to the employee to keep their schedule straight. If you are doing extended care, you work with client A for agency A on M, T, W, so and so shift, and client B on W, Th, F, on such and such shift. Sometimes it is possible to stagger shift start and stop times to allow you time to get from one case to another. Often Agency A knows that you work for Agency B, but it is not necessary to share this info. Just tell Agency A when you are available for them, and tell Agency B when you are available for their client(s).

Don't feel like you're the lone ranger for wanting to do this. It is accepted practice that hh nurses, particularly those who do extended care, are signed on with more than one agency at a time. It is recommended to have this kind of set-up so that you are never out of all work if one client gets hospitalized or otherwise leaves service. If your part time case at the second agency isn't enough hours, you can apply for unemployment benefits and be paid the difference between what you are still earning and what your benefit turns out to be, until you get more work.
