Home Health Vs Hospital

Specialties Home Health

I currently work in a hospital but am considering moving into home health. I soon will be a newly graduated RN and want to further my education/career. I am concerned that going into home health may not provide me with the kind of experience I need to possibly go on to other opportunities in nursing (such as APN, CRNA or other areas I don't even know about yet). Bottom line, where will I have the best chance for experience and growth that will help lead to other opportunities? I have on;y been an LPN for a liitle over a year and have not worked ICU, Med-Surg or anything like that.

I recommend staying in the hospital for a few years and get comfortable with your nursing skills. Acute care is the best place to learn.

Home health is not the place for a new RN. You need to function independently. And you are correct, home health will not give you the experience needed to be a CRNA- you have to be an ICU nurse for that.

Thanks for the response. That is what I was looking for.
