Hi all,

I am delurking to ask if anyone has any experience working with Bayada homehealth. They are new to my area, and I am interested in an infant who is trached/vented. I am a NICU nurse who need to pick up some extra work because our census is way down in our unit. I have no home health experience, so any tips would be great

Thanks

Amy

Sorry I missed this post earlier. I have not worked for them but know of this for profit company.

Bayada was started in NJ over twenty years ago. They have the biggest patient population of vent dependent children in my area, are well known for a good orientation course if no homecare experience. They have a seperate staffing division for their shift Pediatric care 4-8-12 hrs dependent on the case. I have done this type of care before---starting times can be unusual--say 6:30 -9AM to get child up and ready for school when schoolage--sometimes accompany child to school or just return in afternoon to mmet from bus, need to be available if school closed/child sick for 8 hrs; or tradirtional 5-8 hr staffing.

One tends to get caught up in famuly dynamics if long term case and you do things on FAMILY's/childs schedule, not necessarily what you want done at the time. If you can roll with the punches and accept individuality, you may thrive in this type of home care.

Good luck. Let us know if you accept a case.
