Nursing applicants in Georgia-HELP!!!!

Nursing Students HESI

Published

For those of you who took the HESI A2 entrance Exams, can you please share with me some of the areas on the test you thought were the easiest and/ or hardest? What were your score? What were your studying habits (esp. if you studied within a SHORT TIME)? I currently don't have a study guide (I'm waiting for it to be delievered to me within this week or next week) and the latest I can take the test at Middle Ga State College is Feb. 6 (YIKES!!!). Advice is NEEDED!!!

*Sidenote* Are there any other nursing schools in Georgia that require the HESI A2?

My sister took the HESI A2 last year and got a 94. Middle Ga State College only requires the Reading Comp, Vocabulary, Grammar, Math, and Critical Thinking sections. She said she studied for about 2 weeks and only studied from the HESI Admission Assessment book. She said her exam was exactly like the book and she thought it was really easy.

While you are waiting on your book to arrive, there are some good sets of flashcards on Quizlet for the HESI A2. Just search "HESI A2."

I'm currently studying for the exam and my test date is January 29th.

South Georgia State College in Douglas, Ga uses the hesi A2 also:)

Thanks for you advice. AS of now, I'm using the McGraw-Hill Nursing Entrance Exam Study Guide (2013) until the book comes along. Are you applying to Middle Ga State College as well? Are you sure they only test in Reading Comp, Vocabulary, Grammar, Math, and Critical Thinking?. Some test might have certain subjects that other tests don't.

When you applied, what was your overall and nursing core classes gpa?

What program did you apply for?

Do you know if they count Chem 1151/1151L and 1152/1152L towards the science part or do they just focus on A&P and Micro?

Thanks for your response rebelpeach72. Do you know the requirements for the program and what do they look for?

I am applying to the BSN program at Middle Ga State College. That is the only program I am applying to so hopefully I will get in. My overall gpa is 3.86 and I do not know what my nursing core gpa is. I still have to take Sociology. I'm not sure about Chem 1151 and 1152 counting towards the science part.

Here is the link on the Middle Ga State College website that says what parts of the HESI they test on: http://mga.edu/degrees/degDocs/15/c._Nursing_Entrance_Exam.pdf (at the very bottom)

I'm only applying to Middle Georgia State College too, lol! I'm still waiting on the admission office to tell me if I've gotten accepted or not. God-willing, if I"m admitted, then I'll be applying primarily to the ASN program (I'm sort of hesitant about applying to the BSN due to my GPA. Not really sure what they're looking for as far as classes and the minimum GPA to be even competitive). So far, my gpa is a 2.98 and I just found out that my math & sciences(including Chem 1151 & 1152) gpa is 2.81. :(

I emailed the nursing department at Middle Ga State College to make sure the HESI information on their site was correct with what they test on. The lady that emailed me back said that they only test on Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Math, and Critical Thinking. They do not test on the science sections.

Thanks again. Last Wedsnesday, I drove down to the school and visited the nursing department. The receptionist confirmed everything you just said! I'm taking the test on February 5 at the Warner Robin Center!!! Wish me luck! :)
