2014 Source of Hesi A2 with Critical Thinking Info

Hi guys,

I recently took the HESI test about 2 weeks ago, and I felt like there was not enough information regarding the topic so here it goes. I made a 96% overall and I will tell you about my experience.

The exam opened up to a page with all of the sections in it. I had four hours total for the entire exam and I was able to pick the section I wanted to work on first. The worst part of this is that you will receive the score to whatever section that you finish, so that was nerve racking. I almost wished they had just waited till the end.

First up I did Anatomy and Physiology because I knew it would be my hardest section. I had only taken one semester of A&P and I pretty much had to cram a semester's worth of A&P into a week. When I studied for it, I focused on studying the organ systems that I was not familiar with and hoping that I was at least familiar enough with it where I could make an educated guess. Somehow, by the grace of God, I managed to get a 100% on that section. I honestly guessed on at least a quarter of them so I don't know how I did that. My stuyding helped me a little bit, but honestly take this exam after you have taken both a&p's

Math-I had to take the TEAS test as well before I took the Hesi. I was skilled in math without a calculator so I didnt have a lot of issues with these questions. I scored a 92% on this section but it took longer than expected. I used up the whole 50 min. The hesi exam study book helped and MEMORIZE all of those conversions.

Vocabulary-I was very scared about this section. The words in the study guide were very easy but when I was reading online, a lot of people said it was very difficult. The study guide was useful, but these words were honestly not bad at all. If you are worried, study psat words but it didnt have any complicated medical terminology on it. 98%

Grammar-Gosh I hate this section. I didnt do well on grammar on the TEAS and it was my lowest score on the HESI as well. 90% I think the study guide really helped me on this. I had forgotten all of those silly grammar rules and in what circumstances they change. I am just awful at grammar so im sure it wont be difficult for others

Reading-98% I didnt have any trouble in reading. Very straightforward and do not overthink it. There is a lot of passages though so if you are a slow reader, manage your time well.

Critical Thinking-There was no way that I could prepare for this. It was very interesting to say the least. You are graded on a scale from 1-1000 with 900 being in the good range. You are presented with nursing situations and how you would react to them in the multiple choice. There are no wrong answers but there are better answers than others. I wouldnt call it hard but you are being judged on your decision making skills.

Overall, the Hesi A2 was not nearly as bad as what I expected. Please feel free to ask me questions but I will not give the answers to anything or what questions were on the test.
