Constantly sick, 18 years old

Nurses Stress 101

Published

I've been suffering with sinus infections and countless other problems since middle school, especially headaches and migraines, fainting spells....so on. I'm currently 18. I remember always have bad tummy problems when I was younger and bad colds, including horrible ear infections. I went 60% deaf from them as a child then got tubes put in my ears.

You think that would've helped right? Wrong

Now I get them occasionally, at least twice a year, which isn't bad. Sometimes more. But I constantly get sinus infections, colds and flus.

This past month, starting on the 30th of last month I caught a cold from a friend. It progressed into a sinus infection of course. I started feeling better for a week. Then I was down with a much worse virus. I had a high temperature for multiple days, and I was feeling awful. I went into urgent care because it was so bad. I could barely swallow or talk, I was fighting a bad fever. They gave me fluids and ran tests. I've had mono before (which made me super ill for roughly 3+ months), but the test came back clear later after my hospital visit... No strep, no STDS, nothing. My white blood cell count is about 26,000 though. They rushed me over to the ER because they thought I may have blood poisoning, but thankfully I was okay-ish, just super ill and my vitals were bad. My heart was about 106-130+ bpm, it didn't get lower until today, and my blood pressure wasn't stable either. Like I said, they thought I had mono, especially since my spleen and liver felt slightly enlarged and my high WBC. After three bags of fluids, blood samples and meds they sent me home. No answers besides having another virus.

I have a lot of other symptoms in my life constantly :

Headaches, migraines with auras, fainting and vomitting (ruled out seizures), fatigue and tiredness, night sweats, constantly waking up, depression, anxiety, oh a lot of knee pain (keep im mind im 5ft3in and 95 pounds, but my weight isn't causing these issues for sure), stuffy nose/chronic sintisis the sinus issue (spelling?), dizziness, poor circulation (i could freeze someone with my hands and feet), when i stand up my feet and calves turn red ...well theres a lot of problems in my daily life sometimes my appetite is bad or I have stomach/intestinal issues. I've had ulcers in middle school, just a lot of problems and no answers... :( I started noticing on my blood count tests everything has been higher the past year. All my levels have significantly increased.

Nothing is really making sense. I'm just so tired of being sick all of the time. I don't understand why my doctors can't figure it out either. No allergies to any medication, food or anything... Any ideas? My doctors, parents and I have run out of ideas. i just hate being so sick almost all of the time. I feel like I shouldn't be 18 and constantly ill.

Thank you.
