Well, speaking as a sailor who has found himself (and his boat) of the windward side of Florida the last few years, your island looks better and better!!!
Papaw John - Sep 15, '06 by casualjimI'm a nursing student in San Diego but I plan on moving back to O'ahu when I get done with school. Windward side is nice for me because it's not too far from town, but far enough that I dont get too crazy. Not too hard to get to some good beaches for surf. I have a daughter that's in school and Kaiser High over in Hawai'i Kai is a good school ( she's got a ways to go yet though ) just my thoughts

There's a Borders bookstore in Windward Mall. The closest B&N, IIRC, is at Ala Moana. There is one in East Oahu in the Kahala Mall, too, I believe, but nothing up on the Windward coast unless they put one in without any fanfare.
- Sep 16, '06 by casualjimThe Farrells ice cream in San Diego closed about the same day the one at Windward Mall opened. When things are feeling really crazy and annoying I try to go to Farrells or maybe a chucky cheese and watch a couple 7 year olds have a birthday party. Once that urge to push my thumbs into my eyes hits, I leave and the world looks so much better.

- Sep 21, '06 by SlobgobEverytime I try and go snorkling at Windward sites (Research Pier, Lakini, Kohala) its always murky... But then again... the cliffs you see right after you cross the Pali are an amazing site. I find that I visit NorthShore so much more for surfing/snorkling/hiking...
Then again, I live in Makiki (near Downtown) only 2 blocks from my hospital and I wouldn't trade this location for anything... =) - Sep 22, '06 by WindwardOahuRNQuote from Slobgob"Lakini"? :wink2:Everytime I try and go snorkling at Windward sites (Research Pier, Lakini, Kohala) its always murky... I should read: Research Pier, Lanikai, Kailua... =P~
Atleast Kohala is close enough... but its also not what I meant to type...
Maybe I was trying to cross Lanikai with Bikini...? hah...
