I'm applying for UH MEPN program for Fall 2009. Has anyone heard about the program? It's fairly new but I just want to know what I'm getting myself into...lol. I know overall, nursing school is... Read More
0Mar 25, '10 by bjkaneHello everyone-
I just found out about this thread today from a friend who applied for the program. I got accepted into the program in the Nursing Administration track. I am super excited! I noticed some people looking for places to possibly live while they are in the program and my partner and I may have a room to rent, but we won't know until the end of April. I just wanted to put that out there. I am excited to meet everyone!
0Mar 26, '10 by bluefanThanks for the info on the KCC class, blahblah and Erigrl. Online sounds good to me.
AjBob, it sounds like there are some others relocating or returning home from the mainland. Perhaps there are some roommate leads there. I'm still going to keep an eye out for any rental leads...who knows, I may need to move back with the 'rents once I quit my job, so maybe my current place would even be a possibility! (although I am seriously hoping this is not the case!)
0Mar 26, '10 by hollownurseI'm from the midwest and prices are quite high but expected. I've been to Hawaii before but living there will be a financial challenge for sure!
0Mar 26, '10 by linz7287Have any of you guys joined the MEPN facebook page? I think we could all get to know eachother a little better on there...
0Mar 29, '10 by AkesaHello future nurses/ NPs, NAs etc. etc.
Congratulations to all who have been accepted to the program. I was wondering if anyone who has received any kind of notification was on the Family NP track. I was interviewed by T. Zucherro sp.? and K. Quareshi, but haven't heard anything, and when I asked Erik he just said they would send letters in a few weeks.....which does not help my anticipation!!!!
So I have somewhat lost hope for this program, but hopefully will get into the UHM BA or KCC AA program.
Where there's a will there's a way!
0Mar 29, '10 by cjlbnphey everyone congrats to all who got accepted! i was wondering if anyone knows the breakdown of how many students are allowed for each track. also if there any recommendations before applying. i plan to apply 2011. should letters of recc be from nurses, professors?
0Mar 29, '10 by AjBobSo I talk to fin. aid today and letters won't be out till end of April. They said, they have no grants! (and the best scholarship starts in spr ~500 a semester?!?)
I'm confused on how I need to accept by mid April, but won't know if I can afford it till end of April?----arg! My girlfriend got in to a prog for MEPN too and she is completely covered by grants, not loans! How can I work for the under served if I'm neck high in debt!
Any thoughts?Last edit by AjBob on Mar 29, '10 : Reason: Grammer

I have only recieved the "Intent to register" info in the mail which is due april 17-
has anyone recieved anything else?
I am trying to make a trip over the 1st week in May before I make my final decision but dont know exactly how that is going to work if we have to give them an answer by the 17th- how definate is that answer?
Does anyone know if there is some kind of campus tour available?
Hope to hear from you all soon!
0Mar 30, '10 by DodgersgirlHi Linz,
I'm not sure if there is a campus tour designed for graduate students, however, there is a campus tour for undergrads. Here is the link to sign up for a tour: http://manoa.hawaii.edu/admissions/u...ad/visit/#tour
I feel just as discouraged as you about the tuition. I'm looking to apply for private grants and scholarships because I don't think there are many affiliated with the university. I really want to avoid coming out of graduate school with a huge loan on my shoulders. I hope we can all find a way to finance ourselves through this program.
0Mar 31, '10 by jayaaHas anyone gotten rejection letters yet? I haven't been called for an interview, and I haven't gotten an interview so I don't have much hope, but I was wondering when the actual rejection letter would get here?
0Mar 31, '10 by erigrl057LindsayPaige,
If you don't mind me asking were you notified by email or was a letter mailed to your house? I'm waiting for some type of letter as well, but haven't received anything yet. Good luck to you as you continue to pursue nursing!! =)
