KCC ADN Program Spring 2011

U.S.A. Hawaii

Aloha,

Accepted to KCC ADN for Spring 2011. Finally. Hurray! (excited but anxious!)

I'm wondering if any current students or graduates can give any insight into what we new students can expect the first semester? I'm assuming that everyone has their co-reqs completed, which means there are only 2 classes the 1st semester, right? It looks like we have 4 days/week in class/clinicals? I'm just going off what is on the KCC website, so apologies if I'm uninformed. I don't yet know anyone who is in the program so can't ask questions (hence - this thread!)

Orientation is tomorrow, but any additional info is always helpful! Such a major life change ~ just want to be as prepared (mentally & physically) as possible.

Thank you Thank you Thank you! ~ for any advice, experience, etc that you can offer!

Aloha,

:o

Im waiting for the call.., still an alternate. Anyone know how many alts there are??

Orientation was super helpful. Definitely gave a more clear picture of what daily life will be like for the next 2 years!

Ajrkcc: I asked & the counselor indicated that there were 25 alternates. Maybe it's more since they can't use the LCC campus for our cohort. :(

But PS: I'll be crossing my fingers for the dedicated alternates - I know it's super stressful, but hang in there!

Yea it seemed like there were quite a few alternates at the orientation. That seem kinda crazy the way they run it to me, as far as the alternates go. I wish they would give us at least an idea of our chances of getting in. Congrats to you tho and good luck!

they have no way of knowing how many alternates will be taken.

admission of alternates is based solely on accepted students backing out. the only way to know if any slots will be opening up would be to ask each of the accepted students. KCC is very prompt in notifying alternates though. they also emphasize to the accepted stuents that they need to notify the school ASAP if they decide to back out. after a certain point, empty slots CANNOT be filled. it's really sad to see a seat go to waste but that's what happens when people need to drop out unexpectedly b/c of unforseen circumstances... or they just don't bother to tell the school. really inconsiderate but it does happen.

For those that got accepted/applied GPA/NLN scores and what co reqs did you guys have done?

Whats the age range like for those that got accepted?

applied to both Manoa & Kcc, and got accepted to both. gave up my spot at Kcc and confirmed my seat at Manoa instead. anyway, here's my profile when I applied to Kcc:

gpr: 4.0

coreqs: did all but anthro

nln composite: 133

also had a letter of recommendation from the dr's office I worked at, which probably boosted my app by a little.
