KCC ADN FALL 2015

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

Hi guys,

So I submitted my application for fall 2015, and I am anxiously waiting for my letter. I've bee checking my mail everyday!

My stats are:

3.5 Prereq/Coreq GPA, including both Coreqs completed with A's

73.3% TEAS

Did anybody else apply for fall??

Also applied for fall 2015. 3.5gpa with coreqs completed, 78 teas, healthcare experience. Hoping to get in! From what I can tell we should be expecting letters within the next 2 weeks. Last year it appears people were notified around 4/4-4/9.

Good luck

Awesome! Where'd you take your healthcare experience at? Is this your first time applying to the program?

I have experience working in a trauma center for 4+ years. Spent most of my time working in the ER as one of the techs. Definitely learned a lot and was able to make a better decision about what I wanted career wise in the healthcare field.

Is this the only school you applied to? I don't really have a backup plan except to apply for spring if I don't get in this time around.

our stats are really similar. I am not sure how much of a difference healthcare experience makes, it looks like it's only 1 extra point in the grand scheme of the things.

Oh wow! That's very good! Yeah this is the only school I've applied to. I was thinking of UH Manoa but I was too concentrated on getting my prereqs done for KCC so I jus focused on KCC... How bout you? I don't hav a back up plan either besides to apply for spring too... However, this semester I took a CNA class, so I might consider the LPN program then transfer to the ADN Afterwards...

I am going to get my CNA this summer hopefully. Just need to get the money together. Have you worked as a CNA? That really helps!

I only applied to KCC. All of the best nurses I've met either went to KCC or mainland. KCC also has more clinical experience than most of the BSN programs. I do plan to immediately follow and get my BSN through a bridge program.

Ohh I see. Yeah, I actually jus finished the CNA class like 2 weeks ago. I'm trying to wait until I have money to get my CNA License first then I'll apply for CNA jobs.

Same here. I plan on doing the BSN bridge at UH manoa. I jus want to be in the program already! I've waste almost 3 years of jus getting my prereqs done.

I know the feeling about wasting time. I spent a couple years contemplating what path was right while taking nursing school and then medical school pre reqs.

Where did you do the CNA program at? I've been looking around and was going to do the Red Cross program, but seeing if there other alternatives that are cheaper.

If I knew Manoa wasn't accepting new students for spring I would have applied there also. Hopefully the letters come this week!

Oh wow! & you took classes at KCC all the years?

I sctually took the course at KCC. It's the nurse 9 class. It's really good! I loved it.

It makes me more scared because that means that manoa students are gonna be applying for KCC program which will make it more competitive! I'm really hoping it comes in the mail this week or next week.

I actually did my prereqs for nursing school at KCC and then went to Manoa for my course work completed towards my BA/med school prereqs. I didn't know I would need 2 years of foreign language to finish which is one reason why I am pursing nursing rather than completing my BA right this moment. Back up plan is to finish BA by doing accelerated foreign language courses and the last semester of my BA.

I I actually think that the fall semester might have less competition as Manoa is accepting students in the fall. I think spring will be tougher as all the people that didn't get into Manoa and didn't apply to KCC will be applying then.

Ohhh I see... That's really good. I thought of going to UH Manoa & going straight for my BSN. But the way my financial is, it's really good for me to jus stay at KCC then transfer later on.

KCC is the best option I think! Best price and great program.

Will definitely post post when I get my acceptance/alternate list/rejection letter.

Have ver you heard anything on how many spots? I know the past couple cycles they have had limited spots due to instructor issues. Hopefully they do both KCC and LCC cohorts
