FYI!!

I just had orientation at Hawaii Pacific Health (Straub/Kapiolani/Pali Momi/Wilcox) and they are begining a New Grad Program in February. Check it out, I just read a lot of people are looking for one...

Good Luck.

Had a question about how you found out about the new program in Feb. I can't find anything on the web site. I am a recent grad from California brought here for my husband's job and am struggling finding a place to take me. I am an RN and in California I could receive my license before graduation if I had a previous degree, hence my RN but finishing up my BSRN online.

Do you or anyone else have any suggestions for an out-of-stater and getting into either this program with Kapiolani (could you maybe give me a contact?) or other avenues to follow?

Thanks for the post and congrats to you and have a great holiday!!!!

I looked on the Hawaii Health Care website.. Can't find anything about New Grad Program. Did you have orientation for the New Grad Program already? Is it too late to try to get into the program? Do you have a direct link to the New Grad Program?

Thanks!!

i work on the med-surg floor as a cna. when i did my orientation in the beginning of december, there were a couple of new grads from may that had just gotten call-in positions. the hr & the nursing trainers asked "oh, you didn't want to wait for our new grad program starting in feb?" they didn't go into much more detail than that...but what i have gathered from work is :

-it's a brand new program (they are still working out the kinks)

-hph is waiting until all their renovations are complete

-they are doing a new grad program so they can "compete" with queen's as well as those that leave for the mainland for work.

i still hear my manager mention it from time to time, but i don't often see her every day. sorry i don't have more information, but when i hear something, i will post it here.

Don't want to be a "stick in the mud.." but I spoke with Leilani, the nurse recruiter at HPH, and she said she does not know when the next new grad program going to start. Plus, a couple of my classmates, who I graduated with and who did the EPIC trainer position in the fall, said that their new grad program started in january. Therefore, I highly doubt that they would have another new grad program to start in february. well that's my thinking..but good luck..

I too have spoken with a nurse recruiter from Hawaii Pacific, this morning actually and they told me there was currently no new grad positions available. She also informed me that they were currently hiring and needing nurses with more then 2 years experience. My job hunt continues....:banghead:

ooohh wow that sucks. i overheard from my classmate who is working as an aide that hph wasnt going to have a new grad due to budget cuts. but some departments might do a new-grad depending. i once saw a new grad opening at fbc and mbcu in early december-february. but im sure its not avaliable any more and you cant view the listing unless you are already employed.

Frow: I am a new grad and just got my RN license this week in the mail, so recently I've been been applying around Oahu. I'm desperately in need of a job in any hospital. Just want to get my foot in the door at least, but it seems like even though I apply for a lower level position, no hospitals are calling me back. From reading all these threads/posts about how hard it is to find a job in Hawaii, I am getting really depressed. I really want to be in Hawaii, but I just need some help getting any kind of job in a hospital until a new grad position opens up. I made this huge transition to Hawaii from Cali knowing what I was getting into in terms of living expenses, which is why I decided to rent a room for really cheap from a friend of a friend, but I can't make this move work in Oahu without a regular job. I was even thinking about being a waitress for a little bit just to have some cash while I look for a hospital position. Any advice? I really need some help. All these years and money spent getting my BSN and now I have my RN license, but no jobs are available. If anyone can help me out, I would really apprciate it. :crying2:

Thanks a million!!!!!!
