Finding a job in Hawaii

  1. 0
Hello everyone. I'm an RN from San Diego with a BSN. I have 3 years of experience as an RN. 1 year in acute care and 2 in skilled nursing. I was just acquiring on the job outlook in Hawaii for RN-BSN. My husband is in the military and will be stationed in Hawaii. I would really like to work there so that I don't lose my skills as a nurse. I'm still currently working until we move there. What are my chances on getting a job in the hospital. Any luck for me in the military hospitals over there?

You may have priority since your husband is military when applying @ the military hospital, Tripler

Ive been applying to several jobs and talking with lots of recruiters. As long as you have 2 years of experience, you will not have a problem finding a job (in your current specialty). Sometimes SNF is not weighed as heavily as acute care, but with even 12 months of acute care experience you will have decent odds of finding a job.

I have yet to complete my application for Tripler--the USAjobs website has some ridiculous requirements for RN positions (print and scan and submit in addition to fill-in online).

Good luck! I am also moving to Oahu with my husband next month and hoping to find a job that I like (im pickey). Hit me up in a month or so and I'll update you

How did this pan out for you...I am working in Alaska now with 5 years experience in CCU & am CCRN certified, I am not military though & am wanting to live in Hilo for a change of pace, warmth & sunlight...what do you think of the employment opportunities on the big isle after your experience in Hawaii?

    cheers,

I have been in Oahu for a month now. I have 8 years experience on an acute care telemetry unit and have not gotten a job yet. I apply for 3 or more positions nearly every day. With the closing of the two hospitals, and only speaking English its a challenge to say the least to get a job.
