Can anyone say what the best job in the military nursing wise is? I know there is no right answer or wrong answer, just curious. Maybe a job that is nursing that no one thinks about?

The best job? Wow, that is near impossible to answer. Each of our jobs in the Navy have their benefits and drawbacks. Becuase we also have the Marines attached to us, you have another avenue for interesting billets. We do everything from staff nursing to field nursing, to fleet surgical teams, I mean the list goes on. If you can be more specific, so can I.

I figured it was too general. I think I was thinking if there is a job out there that is so very different than its civilian counterpart. FOr example med-surg for the most part is med-surg. But being aero med-evac might be totally different? Maybe. Maybe even something most people do not know even exsisits. Like for example, on the enlisted side of the house there is actually active duty flight attendants that cater to the high ranking. Hopefully that gives some ideas.

Thanks,

Pam

NursePamela, if you are a BSN nurse you might want to contact an Army Health Care Recruiter for a list of job opportunities. I can tell you getting deployed OCONUS with a CSH is certainly different experience than CONUS nursing, LOL. Yet, that is probably not the answer you are looking for from what you have posted.

If you want to do some type of Air Evac nursing in the military I'd think an AF Nurse Recruiter would be your best direction.

Good luck!

In that case, I will have to say that any deploying platform would be different than anything else. most nurses in the Navy serve in hospitals or clinics until we are called upon to deploy, that's where it gets interesting. There are several billets in the Navy where we serve with the Marines and on various aircraft carriers, those are the different ones.
