I need a little help in deciding which specialty track to take in my master's program (Family NP/Geriatric NP/Adult CNS). This question is for my fellow nursing colleagues who are currently working for the VA in an Advanced Practice Role NP or CNS, What was your area of specialty (Adult, Family, Geriatrics) while in school and in what direction do you see the VA moving with the use of Advanced Practice Nurses? I love the job security offered by the VA, but being young in the system, I'm willing to leave if the opportunities for APN's will not be there in the future.

Thanks in advance for the advice!!!

I am in the NP program now...I will do adult/geriatric. I chose that because one of our NP first had geriatric and then was told she could treat those only over 65, so she had to go back and get her adult certification also.
