Navy Nursing @ the Big 3

Specializes in PICU/NICU.

Hello all, I am new to these forums but will try to jump right in. I am in the Medical Enlisted Commissioning Program and due to graduate in December :yeah:. I did send in my dream sheet and did pick Bethesda as my first choice and Portsmouth as my second. I also put the bug in my detailers ear that I wanted Bethesda. I saw that Dan posted that it should not have been the first choice...why? If you could let me in to some of the politics that would be great. I have been working at the University of Chicago as a nurse extern, we do everything the nurses do except pass meds. How difficult would be be to get ICU or NICU at Bethesda?

I am scheduled to go to Bethesda next week to take a tour of the hospital. Obviously, I dont have orders yet, Does anyone know anyone that I can speak to besides my detailer to help me get in there.

Also, has anyone gone through the nurse internship program at bethesda.

What is the climate like?

Do the nurses eat their pray or are they helpful in making sure that you suceed?

I am looking for an overall picture of what to expect after OIS. I have been in for 4 years and do know how the Navy works, especially the political side but as a DUINS away from a command for two years, things change and you do not realize it until your back in the NAvy so to speak.

Any help would be appreciated...Soon2BNavyNurse---Dec 08:saint:
