Navy Nurse Requirements

I'm graduating soon with my RN, BSN and was thinking about becoming a nurse in the Navy. However, I was wondering what exactly Navy Nurses do? I've read that some stay on land and some are on the ships at sea. I was wondering do you get to choose where you would like to go? Also, I was wondering do you have to meet certain physical requirements as the other civilians going into the military? Thanks!

To get the up to date requirements you need to contact a healthcare recruiter not the local enlisted recruiter. Most nursing no s in the Navy are shore based with very few assigned to ships and they are mostly O-4 bullets so you would not have to worry about that for 10 years or so. You could end up being assigned to a Marine summit after you have some experience. Do you get to choose where you go its yes and no. You will work with your detailer who will work with you to try to get you your choose but the needs of the Navy come first. From what others have stated most new grads go to none of the Navy's big three, San Diego, Bethesda/Walter Reed, or Portsmith. For the most part you will do the same work as a civilian RN along with addition military duties. I am Army but was enlisted Navy at one time so a Navy nurse can give you some more details.
