HPSP Air Force Nurse-Midwife

Hey All!

I just sent in the majority of my paperwork for the Health Professions Air Force Scholarship. My recruiter has been great about collecting the documents (and there were a lot of them). Apparently the board opens in October, so we're trying to get everything in by late September so my application will be near the top of the pile.

Anyone else applying for the October HPSP? Let's commiserate!

Also, would anyone happen to know how many spots are available in each specialty this upcoming year? He seemed to think that Nurse-Midwives would have an excellent chance, but I'm still nervous.

Thank you!

My recruiter said about 70 applicants will meet this board for the HPSP Program and OR nurses. I'm not sure about rolling it over...sounds feasible though probably good for one year.

My recruiter was at the board today. He said there were five applicants and two available scholarships. Not the stats I wanted to hear...gulp! Good luck and best wishes!

Oh no, so few spots? I wonder what happened to the five spots they had for CNMs before? Did it sound like they made all of the decisions yesterday? Good luck to you as well!

I'm sorry to hear news has not been positive right now, I'm sorry I still can't PM you! :(

My recruiter told me that he doesn't think my application is being looked at this round because I might be in the wrong type of DNP program. I'm not sure yet if I'll work for awhile and then apply to other Midwifery programs (like Frontier) with a 3-4 year MSN + DNP, and then reapply to HPSP. I'm just not sure yet, but everything I've heard about Frontier has been pretty positive.

I got a call this am, I am selected after all!!

Congratulations! I'm so glad for you! Did they give you any details on how you're going to start, or what happens when? Was it your recruiter you heard from, or someone else entirely? Again, congrats! :D

It was my recruiter who called this am! I don't have specifics...I'm working today and tomorrow so I probably won't know until Thursday.

I am thinking of applying for the HP scholarship and I was wondering how you found the process?
