bummer; requesting release from IRR ANC

Hi there,

Just the latest update from communications from my recruiter.

[pasting my post from a just written reply]

Well, found out today that I will not be able to amend my date to ship until it is time to ship, (however I will not know when that time is before August 2007 and it maybe September or it may be January 2008).

Much as I hhhaaate to do it, I sent my request for release from IRR and my sustainment status for the Army Nurse Corps. The reasons are for financial hardship and academic timeline completion of June 2008. There is not a chance that I can afford to sit in limbo with student loans due and rent and so forth, until Jan 2008 and most hospitals require new grads to sign a contract for more than the 5 months I'd need to make the Jan 2008 OBLC.

Also, since I have time until Jan I added the FNP certificate to my courses in order to hold my loans in deferrment AND earn the FNP.

It is a waste of all that hard work everyone did, which will only need to be repeated all over again, pretty much right away.

p.s. thanks for listening

p.p.s. since I am on IRR and do not have duty assignment or orders or even anticipate them I chose the DoD 1332.30, (was that right or will I need to re-send an updated letter?)

Gen,

I'm sure you are done with loans, but there ARE loans that don't have to go through the school. Since I am going to a community college, the most I could get approved for was link $2k/year. Can anyone live on that? But, I was able to get a private loan through Wells Fargo that had nothing to do with my school. The check was sent directly to me. IIRC, you can request up to 25k/year. I know there are other places that offer these types of things.

Just something else to think about ;)

Hi,

Directly to you!

Do they require approval by the university first? My university is the one that restricted me to 20K for my alternative lender for the year. Out of that, 3K went to tuition, 12K for rent, another 1K for yearly phone and so on. I asked approval for 5K more but, university financial aid said no.

I would love the information about your lender.

Thank you,

Check your PMs. :D

You can get personal loans and signature loans from your local bank. They don't care what its used for just as long as you can pay it back and have good credit. Call your local bank. Your school does not need to be informed for this.
