Quick question,

During BOLC how many weekends did you get off? My family is going to be in Houston and wanted to get an idea if I will be able to go and see them (with a pass of course) at all.

Not looking for specific dates, I understand the needs of training and Army, just trying to get an idea.

Thanks

We had all the weekends off. Training is Monday-Friday. We even came home from the field every Friday afternoon. :) During nurse track we did have to do a little work to keep up with our group assignments, but even then it was time off.

Wow, good to hear.

In my enlisted basic we had one day off in 9 weeks with the good ole' drill sergeants threatening to take it away from us. WLC I only had one day off in a month due to it being Thanksgiving...

This will be a nice change of pace!

Thanks

Yeah .... our prior service folks at BOLC were like, "What? Really? Weak!" Haha. It really is different on the officer side of the house. People will still complain about formations at 0-dark-thirty and PT five days a week (if they still do it), but they just don't know how good they have it. :) It's not like the poor Navy people I stood in line with at the AMEDD C&S post office -- these guys were waiting for boxes that had their laptops, cellphones, and civilian clothes because they hadn't been allowed to have any of that thus far into their training. Man, did I feel spoiled!!

That's how Medic school was as well. Wasn't till phase 2 I think that they would give us access to our civilian cloths and cell phones.

How was it putting in passes, just run it through your NCO and they got it squared away? I think Houston is over the mileage so not sure they want me to put in leave every weekend...

Thanks LunahRN. I'm really spoiled not having to put on a uniform for the last 16 months (AECP). Need to start preparing to come back to Army reality.
