Air Force NTP Boards July 2013

Hi all! Just turned in my packet and finished my telephone interview for the boards in July. A little about myself; I am going into my senior year of a BSN program and will graduate in May 2014. My current GPA is 3.49. I'm prior service Air Force(4 years). I have worked in the ER for the last 13 months as a Clinical Assistant(basic CNA stuff, but we can do phlebotomy, EKGs, and Bladder Scans). My references were two doctors(O-6(sel) in the Navy Reserve and a O-4 in the ANG) and a NP(Ret. O-4 Army reserve), I'm not really sure how much weight they will carry in the actual boards process.

For anyone that is wondering, the telephone interview followed the format that your recruiter should provide you with. It started out just by introducing yourself and since I was prior service my interviewer skipped over the part about informing me about the military since I have already been in. Then she just asked me questions about critical thinking, evidence based practice, and an ethical dilemma I have faced. The interview was pretty straight forward and not much at all like an interview. She went on to ask about my future goals and how I'd be a good fit for the Air Force. It pretty much followed the guideline that my recruiter gave me to a tee. Now I just have the long two month wait of seeing if I am selected or not!

Good luck to everyone else applying!

Tashacorrine, just out of curiosity, why did you have to turn down the offer?

Hi SN2013: I was hoping to go to COT in October, but looks like January is more likely. Have you learned where you will do NTP and where your first assignment will be?

Congrats on getting picked up! NTP is in Tampa and then we're off to Elmendorf....have you heard where you'll be going?

Hi SN2013. I was perusing this board because I was selected for COT in October and NTP in Tampa! My first assignment is at Wright-Patterson in Ohio. I feel like I have a lot of information to prepare for COT, but I feel a little bit clueless about the logistics for NTP. Do you have any resources with information about it? My recruiter unfortunately seems about as clueless as I am :/

I wish I knew when and where I was going! I told my husband "I blame you":) I'm thinking I'll be going to COT in Jan just so the Air Force has enough time to place my husband.

I feel the exact same way!! It seems like there isn't any info out there for Tampa!

SN2013: I've heard Elmendorf is beautiful! You said "we're" - are you going with a spouse? I don't know where I'm headed yet but I'm hoping to get an assignment overseas.

Stephaneph, have you received any info on your COT date or any other "wheres and whens"? I think we're in the same boat.

Dreaming1007, No, I don't have any information yet. My recruiter did say that I would likely go to COT in January but that's all I know. Hopefully we get some more information soon!

I'm married with children :) I started pursuing nursing after I had my kiddos!

Hey all. I'm new to this discussion, but I wanted to let you guys know that I was selected for MedSurg. I will be leaving for COT in October, NTP in San Antonio, and off to California for my first duty station. Some of my background is 4 years prior service army combat medic, 3.5 GPA, graduated may 2013, and got my license in july (after the board). Congrats to all that made it. Keep you chins up for those that were alternates and non select. I know how it feels. Last years I was and alternate for the army nursing board.

Yay Clee5, congrats! Welcome to blue:)
