HI Everyone,

I have been working in Home Health Nursing and I have an opportunity to work in Long Term Care. I was wondering how you guys manage your time on the floor. Do you pass meds first or do assessments and treatments first? I would like to work 3-11 since it is part time. Thank you all for your help with this issue.

Get report, report to care aids, assessments, treatments, dressings, check bowel sheet, make list of stuff to do during shift, 5pm meds with laxatives, my supper break if I have time, hs meds, briefly visit with patients while giving meds, chart. I work casual in two places that are quite different so have the routines written in a small notebook I keep in my pocket so I can work efficiently and remember everything even if I'm off for sometimes weeks. This is a HUGE help and the biggest success tip I have to offer. I have a list of patients that I printed out with room number, diagnosis and what table they sit at with a brief description of them (walker, glasses, w/c etc.), as it is easy to mix people up when working in 2 large facilities.
