Transfer AL license to GA

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I am in the process of gathering everything I need to transfer my AL RN license to GA. Listed as one of the things to include with the application is

  • Proof of graduation from an approved nursing education program within four (4) years immediately preceding the date of application

On my official transcripts it states that I graduated from my nursing program at my college, but I was wondering if this is sufficient and if not what kind of proof are they looking for exactly?

Thanks so much for any help!!

Go to the GA Board of Nursing website and there should be a tab that says check application status. You'll have to enter your SSN to check.

Okay great!! Thank you!!

It says no pending apps are found :( how long did it take before yours was showing up on there? I mailed it a week ago.

I can't really remember, I would give it a few more business days then just call them if it's not there

You guys! I'm so frustrated. I am trying to get my GA license by endorsement and have been calling (I mean probably tried 100x the last 3 days). And it was busy every time except one. That one time I was on hold for ONE HOUR and hung up. I mean really? I will post my questions on here in case anyone might be able to help, but if there is an email or secret phone # or something it would be greatly appreciated!

1. I used AL's online app for license verification, which I plan to include in the packet sealed. Is that okay or do I have to send them the exact form that is in the packet?

2. My RN program was a BSN, but I have also gotten an MSN since then. Do I need to send both transcripts? What about if I took a few summer classes from a community college that are listed on my BSN transcript, do I need to request that a well?

3. It will have been 4yrs since graduation on May 8th. As long as my application is signed prior to that, do I need to worry about the work hours verification?

4. I am trying to register on the GAPS website and its asking for "verification code". Where do I get that from?

5. Do I have to travel to GA to get fingerprinted?

You can get fingerprinted where you live and just send it in to the OH cogentid address, that's what I did, the verification # is 922931Z, the ORI # is GA922931Z, I'd send in your BSN and MSN transcripts. :)

I also used AL verification online and then just included the sealed envelope that I received in with my packet.

I received my GA license yesterday!! Yay!! Only 3 weeks after they started processing it :)

That's very encouraging! I am endorsing my Virginia license into GA, but it's been 6 years since I graduated and I have to get the hours certified by my employers in Virginia and here in GA. Yikes. I'm in the Army, so I can work under my Virginia license in my Federal facility as long as I'd like; however, I will likely be staying in GA after I get out of the Army, so I thought I'd start now. I've heard it can be a long, long process!

Yes I've heard it can be very long too! I was really surprised to get mine already! Just make sure you have absolutely everything needed so it'll be processed fast :)

Mines endorsement from AL to GA took 2weeks..make sure u give them a complete packet and your goid!
