Need Advice!!!!
Hello allnurses! I am having a very difficult time getting hired. Long story short I graduated from USF with my BSN in August, took my NCLEX right away and passed the first time while pregnant. I didn't want to start applying because I knew I would have to take time off for my baby, which was due mid-September. I had my son and decided to take 4 months off instead of the usual 6-8 weeks. It is now April and I still haven't found a job. I am applying for residencies in the Tampa and Orlando area and am rarely offered an interview. The message I keep getting is "After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for this position." I just got that response from Morton Plant's residency today and have gotten it from St. Joseph's, Florida Hospital Tampa and Orlando, Brandon, All Children's, etc. I got an interview for TGH, a non-residency position, but it has been just over 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything from them. I don't know what I am doing wrong and can't figure out if it's my resume, cover letter, the time that I've taken off between school, etc. I have three years of tech experience at Florida Hospital on an ortho floor and really good grades from USF. If anyone has any advice or can help I would really appreciate it.

TGH critical care internship
I called to speak with a recruiter today. She said that they are most likely finished with the interviews for the April 28 start date. There is a June start date that she said they will be starting interviews for soon. She said if I'm selected for an interview that I should hear in the next three weeks. If anyone else hears anything about the June class please let me know!

Complex Medicine?
Hello. I am interviewing tomorrow for an RN job at Tampa General Hospital on the complex medicine floor. I'm not quite sure what kind of a floor it is except that they have a lot of infectious and highly contagious disease. I am a new grad and have been looking for a job for the last three months and finally have an interview. This position is not exactly what I want to do, but it's a job. I need some advice because I have a 6 month old son and am worried about working on an infectious disease floor. Obviously I've been trained to use the precautions but I still am scared about bringing something home to my family. Is there anyone in a similar situation or who works on a similar floor who could help? Thanks!

Transfer AL license to GA
I can't really remember, I would give it a few more business days then just call them if it's not there

Go to the GA Board of Nursing website and there should be a tab that says check application status. You'll have to enter your SSN to check.

Terri8, I would call them, that's what I did. You will be on hold for 15-25 min but it's worth it. Just give them a while to process everything and check the status online to make sure things get completed. LizzieB, thanks for the advice! I'm feeling the same way about tampa that all the doors are closing for me here. My fiancé is from Lawrenceville so we may be headed to Atlanta soon if I get this job at northside. Are you a new grad 'also?

I'm sure that will be fine. Just make sure you keep up with them and keep checking. That's the only way mind got approved so fast.

Actually Grady had a posting just for out of state nurses if you want to look into that. Not sure if you'd be willing to drive that far in ATL traffic. I wasn't because it's right downtown so I decided not to continue my application there. Hope this helps!

New Grad that took time off for baby
Okay thank you for the advice. Before now I didn't realize that having a baby could hurt your chances but I guess if they have to choose between me and another single girl then they'd probably choose the single girl :/ well now I know. So when they ask about why I haven't been working since graduation I should state that I haven't found the right fit yet?

Transfer AL license to GA
I applied before I got my license and just stated in my cover letter that it's processing and called a recruiter and spoke with her about it. She said that usually people wait until their license is approved because you have to have it before you start. For me since I have no experience I need to get into an internship most likely so I just started applying anyway. The way I see it is it can't hurt to apply. All they can say is reapply when you have your license. Which should be within a month or so.

Northside, hopefully. I had my first interview there and now just waiting on a call for the second. I'm a new grad so it's hard to get a job. I've gotten denied at so many hospitals in tampa, it's frustrating.
