:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire

well last week the lpn bon met and according to the prez that i spoke with, they voted to make some significant changes that would effect me directly - i could get my license in ga back by completing an on-line course and additional clinical hours instead of taking the whole program over. so i've been checking the website to see when the meeting notes would be published...so i called the secretary of state "call center" there is no direct line to bon staff or email. the notes need to be "approved" by the lpn bon, so i get that but it won't be done until their next meeting in february:argue::sniff::angryfire. ummmm, how about posting them on a secure server and everyone on the lpn bon take a look and yes or no them and then publish...could be done in a week or two at the most.

communication with the lpn bon is non-existent. no direct line to their staff, no email address to send questions to - nada. everything must go through the secretary of state call center and these people haven't a clue about nursing issues.

it could be months and months before any change that they voted on last week will take effect. that means again that i'm screwed - i'm running out of ui benefits and i can't seem to get a job doing anything else. no one wants to hire a 59 year old woman in my area.

i compare this board to the others i've communicated with during the last few months and the difference is night and day, you actually get to talk with a staff person, they answer your questions and off you go but nooooooooo not ga - they are in the dark ages, none of the staff has an email address nor do the bon members the method of communication with them is so convoluted it's ridiculous.

my years away from nursing and working in the private sector as an admin/tech writer/web design has made me very frustrated with their lack of organization, lack of communication, lack of basic computer skills that are available with other bon's. if they were private sector they'd all have been fired for inability to communicate and provide and produce a product in a timely fashion.

ga is always complaining about people stereotyping that they are backwards ignorant rednecks...well based on the lpn bon it's well deserved - i feel like i'm trying to use a paper cup with string to attempt communication with these people.:angryfire aahhhgggg see me running tearing my hair out. they are the most worthless organization i've ever dealt with.

And I thought my state's board disliked to communicate.

Over the last several months I've dealt with TX, CO, OR and OH BON's...all of them were prompt and helpful. I just wish I could get out of here so I could attend a refresher and go back to work. BTW, I do hold a current valid license from OH but I still feel I'd need some more refresher than the CE's I took to get re-instated in OH. Caliotter what state are you in??

CA, not known for being responsive to the public. I could never get a response when I tried to deal with them a few years back. I finally decided to stop bothering, which, I am sure, is what they wanted.

DogWmn,

I can truly understand your ire. I live in GA and went through the same problems with the BON here a few months ago over a DUI that happened 26 years ago when I was 18. Out of all the representatives I spoke with only one acted like she genuinely wanted to help me. The rest just didn't give a flip and it was apparent in their voices. They act like you just can continue to wait week after week and month after month for them to get off their laurels and do their jobs.

I finally found a website about getting in touch with Karen Handel...or the Secretary of States office. There was an area that you could put your comments in and your contact information. I typed out my issue and gave my contact information.. never really believing that it would do any good.... I was just totally frustrated. But within one hour's time I received a phone call and my license were issued ten minutes after that. This was after waiting three months and making weekly phone calls to the BON.

Wishing you good luck!

Oh I've been on the phone with Karen Handle's office, the Gov's office, my state Representative and my state senator.

The whole thing is so unprofessional.

DogWmn,

I tried to reply to your private message, but it says you aren't set to receive them?

Have a great day!

When you send a private message all you have to do is scroll down and check off to send it even if your not on my "friends" list or something like that.

Well, I just got a call from the guy at Sectr'y of State and he had them update the application to reflect the changes sooooo...I'm working on getting that filled out - it will take me several days to say the least...LOL but hey, they will have it in their hands before the end of the year!

The message I got when I tried to reply to PM... was that you didn't receive private messages or something like that... got the email contact you sent and will contact you there..Glad to hear they at least called you... maybe they will get their hiney's in gear soon!

Have a great day!

Well more update grrrr. Yesterday, I spent several hours on the phone AGAIN, filling out the new application and I've run into questions, so I go thru the call the Sec of State put on hold for ever and again no appropriate answer. I finally called the LPN Board Prez and she said she has to check on a few things and will "call me back in a few days"...sigh.

Sooo, this am I get an email from the Admin of the State Senator giving me OUTDATED info on my options...so I just spent ANOTHER HOUR on the phone with her educating her about the recent changes for the re-entry LPN policies and that I'm trying to get the senator to change legislation. OH and she readily admitted that there are many complaints against both GA BON's lack or responsiveness and overal communications...ummm if you would READ my original email requesting for change legislation you will see that's part of the request.

So today, I've already spent TWO HOURS on the phone with no forward movement:angryfire:angryfire:angryfire

Sometimes people think that by paying you lip service that they are fulfilling your need for attention without having to deal with the real issue at hand. They are patronizing you instead of doing something about your problem. Bureaucrats love to do this because it gives them a chance to run their mouth.
