U.S.A. Georgia

There is a possibility we may be moving to the area around Savannah GA sometime after September. While nothing is for sure, I was just curious to know what is out there. How are the hospitals and the job market? I would be looking for something in the critical care field specifically MI, SI, or trauma. What kind of pay to expect?

Thanks!

Oops, forgot to add, how hard is it to move your license state to state? I currently hold a Florida nursing license.

Thanks!

I am still a student so I am not sure about pay, but I used to live there. Hospital choices are either Candler or University Memorial Health Center which has the trauma center. If you decide to move there and have kids I recommend living outside of Chatham county for the better schools.

Can't speak for Savannah other than that it is GORGEOUS (so jealous!), but I will tell you that it is an absolute bear to transfer a license to Georgia. Get started early if you can. The link to their licensure by endorsement document is here: http://sos.georgia.gov/acrobat/PLB/38%20Application%20for%20Licensure%20by%20Endorsement%23.pdf, so this should give you some idea of what you're getting into. HR at the hospital I work at said it can take 30-45 days to transfer a license to Georgia.

There is Memorial University Medical Center or St. Joseph's/Candler (the two hospitals are under the same healthcare system). From my experience, it is different to hear back from both HR departments so I suggest getting started early! It took St. Joseph's five months after I submitted my application to call me to schedule an interview.
