What does 'magnet' status mean? I'm in nursing school at MCG and will start my first clinical rotation this October at the VA. I've been looking around on this forum trying to get a feel for what my employment options and salary potential will be in the Augusta area when I graduate. I have children in elementary school and my husband works long hours during the week, so I think I will likely seek a weekend or weekend evenings job. I have no preference for hospitals yet, but I might after doing clinicals. I believe we will get to work through the VA, University and MCG over the course of our rotations. The program I'm in is an entry-level MSN degree for individuals with non-nursing bachelors degrees. We've been told we will be prepared to work as staff nurses upon graduation in December of 2009. Any thoughts to share? Thanks in advance!

Even though Augusta has less nursing programs than Atlanta, would anyone say it may be better off for a student to consider Augusta over Atlanta?
