New Nurse, No Contacts!

I just moved down to metro Atlanta (Roswell area) right after nursing school in Mid-May. I passed my NCLEX and got my GA license. Now that I am really job hunting I am starting to panic. I am currently not working and am looking to begin my career as a nurse here. I tend to like cardiac and critical care, but I am willing to do anything but peds, maternity, and mental health.

As I look through the mountains of jobs, I see a lot of them want experience! Or there are the nursing residencies which don't start for months (this, financially, is not an option). Does anyone know how to get a foot in the door as a new nurse in this area? Any contact info for nursing managers (email, phone, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. I would like to stay in the northern end of Atlanta, if possible.

Many new grads have found themselves in the same predicament. By limiting where you will and won't work, you are limiting your opportunities. You might need to look outside your comfort zone or desired area, or you risk remaining unemployed. Best of luck in your search!

I suggest applying for any job you are interested in - even if it states experience needed/desired. You never know. I do know N Fulton, Northside and Gwinnett medical hire new grads..another option is a long term care facility, home health or hospice until you can get something secured where you want to be (critical care). Being so close to ATL w/so many options you are bound to find something even as a new grad fairly quick - even if it isn't what you want long term. Good luck!

I graduated in May and pass NCLEX in June and since then I have been applying for RN positions. I am not able to find nursing homes jobs opportunities. Can anyone tell me where to look for them? Thanks

UHS Pruitt, Davita, Barrow Regional, Fresenious, St. Mary's, Cypress Healthcare, Northeast Georgia Medical, the VA..to name a few others..go to the job sites like monster, careerbuilder, indeed & plug in your title and zip code..
