MCG/CNL Fall 2011 applicants

U.S.A. Georgia

Hello, I just wanted to start a thread for those who plan on applying to the CNL program at the Medical College of Georgia next year (Fall 2011).

Hi Everyone.

I initially wanted to apply to MCG/CNL for Fall 2011, but postponed it to Fall 2012, and using 2011 to work on finances & getting some tuition fees ready. How is the GRE coming along? Did you guys take A&Pii and MicroBiology during the same quarter? & how r u preparing for the tuition, given how difficult it is for graduate students to get aid?

The GRE is coming along. I take it next week on the 27th. Im taking it early so I can retake it if my score isnt what I want it to be. I am still very nervous about taking it. I did not take A&P and microbiology together. I did take A&P2 and Chemistry 2 together. I was in the military and they will pay my tuition so im not really worried about that.

Thanks Sharzaejones, I'll most probably take A&PII, and Chem2 together as well. Wish you the best in your nursing career!

Hi sharzaejones. How did the gre exam go? Hope u did great?

It went okay...I am still going to take it again next month and in January. When are you taking it?

I need more time to study. I will take it next month. Do you know if the Feb 1st deadline to apply is set on stone? I have finals in 2weeks, so busy preparing at the moment.Since I still need to finish my prerequisites it just feels like I am really out of time! :-( Since you have taken it already, were the GRE words you had to learn helpful? Did you come across any of those words on exam?

i am not sure about the 1 feb deadline. i would call olivia mitchell and admissions to see. i copied and pasted the following from the mcg website:

application deadline: february 1 - fall entry

early submission of all application materials is strongly encouraged.

note: applications and supporting materials received after the program deadline will be considered on a space-available basis only.

as far as the gre, i did see a lot of words i studied on the test. i took a prep course through kaplan. the course included the top 200 gre words. additionally, i purchased the kaplan flashcards which included 500 words, then i bought the princeton review (pr) "cracking the gre" book. the pr book contained 4 gre vocabulary "hit list" and 2 other vocabulary lists. i did not learn all those words;however, i did make sure i knew the words that appeared in kaplan and princeton review. if a word was on a kaplan flashcard and the same word was on the princeton review list- i made sure i knew those words. now i am studying all the words i didnt learn the first time and working on my geometry.

Ok thanks for sharing more info on the GRE exam. How long was the Kaplan GRE prep course for? Was it helpful? Also did you submit application for Fall yet?

The course I took through Kaplan was 5 weeks long. They have some classes that last several months. Mine was in Athens near UGA on Tuesday and Thursday nights. It cost almost $1,200.00. I think it was helpful and I actually saw some of the exact questions from the class on the GRE. Yes, I already submitted my application for the program.

Has anyone heard anything yet?? They told me the end of the month at my interview but I'm so anxious to know!

I havent heard anything. I was told to expect a decision by the middle of April. I asked why they extended the application deadline- they said because they didnt have as many applicants as normal. If they didnt extend the deadline, they would still have some open slots. Hopefully that means all the people who applied will get accepted.

I am also waiting to hear back. When did yall interview?
