Congratulations to Kennesaw's class of Summer 2010! :yeah:

I am so excited and overwhelmed! I turned down an acceptance to another school earlier in the year (GPC) so that I could attempt to get in at Kennesaw. I am SOOO relieved now! I was so worried I had turned down a sure thing and might end up nowhere ! Thankfully, Kennesaw DID want me :loveya:! I would absolutely love to hear from other summer starters! I know there are only 40 of us so I don't know what the odds are that there is another one of us here. But I bet there are at least a couple of others. So please speak up!

Hello,

Congrats on getting into KSU! I am still taking my pre-req's, but I had a few questions for you--if you don't mind.

What is your overall GPA? Science and Math GPA?

What did you make on your TEAS exam? What did you use to study?

What was the interview like?

Thanks!

I don't even apply to the KSU program until next Fall, but I want to be prepared!

Hi! GL to you!

The GPA that is used is the AGPA (adjusted) which means if you've retaken a class they take the higher grade to calculate your GPA. My AGPA I think is around 3.75. I am not certain about that though because I transferred to Kennesaw and my AGPA isn't listed anywhere on my KSU transcript so I am guessing. My Kennesaw GPA is a 4.0- I've taken about 18 credit hours there (including all of the sciences and psychologies).

I applied with a 3.5 science/math GPA. All of my maths I took about 10 years ago at another school and did not have A's in them. All of my sciences I took at Kennesaw recently and got A's in all of them including the labs.

I made an 84.6 or 84.7 (can't recall) on the TEAS. I used the ATI study guide but I don't think it really helped that much except for the math portion which was good for review.

The interview was a behavioral interview. I went to a mock interview at the career services center beforehand and that was helpful. I read through all of the threads on this site that had interview questions. In the end though I had all completely new questions so there was no way to be prepared for it in advance. My best suggestion is to get as many A's as possible, especially in your sciences. GL!

She ain't lying! The interview is intimidating and hard. Those questions are unbelievable. Its almost like they ask questions like you have been a nurse for years! but score great on the TEAS (i am retaking mine in Jan.) and make all A's in the sciences and you have a great chance! I have been trying for years and I am not giving up!

Hi All,

I was an applicant at Kennesaw State for Nursing for Summer 2010 and I just received my acceptance letter a week ago for the traditional BSN program. I am nervous but mostly excited about the prospect of actually beginning nursing school. I was happy to find this forum online because it would be great to know who some of my classmates will be before classes start. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted :yeah:and to those who were not, keep trying and don't give up.

At this time I have come to the realization that I am going to have to move closer to campus, but I don't know too much about the surrounding towns near KSU. Does anyone know how safe the Kennesaw, Acworth, and Marietta areas are?

Are you at another school now? Where do you currently live? I am about an hour away myself and I am really hoping to move closer, but my house has been for sale over a year and hasn't sold yet! Hopefully by summer we will be in Kennesaw. I currently attend KSU so I can tell you the area is very safe. I think Kennesaw is the safest followed by Acworth and then Marietta. If you are single I'd recommend living on campus because the campus is really nice and the apts are nice from what I hear. If you are not single there are a lot of houses near campus that can be rented for a good price. Some are within walking distance to school. It's so nice to meet you Mandi!

Currently I am in between schools. I just finished up the semester at Georgia State University, but discovered that I have one more prereq to complete: Intro Sociology. I plan to take that at Clayton State online this Spring semester. Currently I live near Flowery Branch, but the commute to Kennesaw back and forth every day would be rough. Have you completed all of your prereqs yet?

Good luck with selling your home and it's nice to meet you too.

I also have one left. I am taking organic chem and lab in the spring.
