Kennesaw State Fall 2011

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I just applied to Kennesaw State's program for Fall 2011. I thought it would be fun to do a roll call to see who else is out there beginning the waiting game!

They will probably open it up for you soon...The school has to submit your info to Pearson and Pearson.

Ok, thanks. I was afraid I had missed it.

Thanks, ugabelle! That was a lot of very useful information! :) It's great to finally get a detailed insight to what we can expect.

Hi All!

I started this summer and want to congratulate all of you! Get ready to hit the ground running.

First off, some things you can work on now and get out of the way...

Thanks again for all of the information! I am taking Patho online, and I was wondering how to go about getting the notes from Davis' class. Is that something that is posted online or only handed out in class? Are there other students I could get it from?

Has anyone else taken Patho online? If so, how was it?

"Buy a recorder to record your lectures in Patho. I suggest one that will download onto your computer."

Haha, I'm on my iPad and couldn't figure out how to to quote just a small part of ugabelle's post, so I just had to copy and paste...

I just wanted to let know that I used the "in class" app on my iPhone last semester in A&P to record my lectures and they came out really clear. Another positive thing is that you can sync the notes (audio and/or video) with iTunes on your computer so you don't have huge HD audio files taking up space on your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, etc. You can also share notes with others who have the app (I think it goes directly into thir notes section of the app, but I haven't tried it yet). I just wanted to pass this along as it was really helpful last semester and it may be a good way to keep audio files if you like to record lectures. Btw- it's a free app and there's an in app purchase to get rid of the ads.

Thanks ugabelle for the great info!! I'm so excited about started, but a little nervous about the difficulty of the material. Bye bye free time, lol. I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end when we will be able to call ourselves RN's. ;) :nurse:

I am not allowed to send out the Davis patho notes since I'm on SNA but you can go on fb to one of the previous classes and ask someone to send them...believe me, someone can send them...

Hey everyone! I just googled this and now I feel retarded that I have been missing out on all of this chat about KSU's nursing program. I just got accepted for this Fall! Is anyone looking for roommates or apartments? I really want to get an apartment but at this point my only option is living in the dorms at university place until I can find a roommate that is on the same page as me when it comes to studying. Congrats to everyone and looking forward to meeting you all :):)

Briggy752,

I know I'm a little late, but if you are still looking for a roommate my lease is ending soon. My current roommate made a last minute decision to move back to her hometown. I'm also having trouble finding someone that I know will study. I'm starting the traditional program in the fall. Please e-mail me if you are interested [email protected]

Hello,

It has been very quiet on this thread since August, and I'm assuming it's because you all have been very busy studying...LOL!! My interview for the accelerated program is on 9/23. How is it going for everyone? Can someone in the accelerated program give me a snapshot of your class and study schedule? I' wish you all much luck!!

I also ordered a stethoscope! I already have my CPR certification. I did it through North Georgia CPR - http://www.northgacpr.com/index.htm I had a couple of friends that started the program this summer and I went with them. I also went ahead and ordered my books through Amazon. Much cheaper than the bookstore. I'm also looking forward to meeting everyone. I only know a couple of people that are starting in the Fall. Most of the people I know and have had classes with started either last Spring or this Summer.

Hey, am accepted into the traditional for Spring 2012. Btw I'v been following this thread lol I would wanna know what text books we need for the first semester classes, please reply asap because I'd like to order mine as fast as possible. Hope you guys classes are going well...

Also, thanks for the link on the CPR class. At least I can work on that and tracking down my immunization records from my last employer. August will be here before we know it!

Does anyone have anything exciting planned before the semester begins?

Hey am starting nursing school Spring 2012 and reading this thread because I need to get things done ahead. I don't understand what you mean by tracking immunization records. Do we need to get our immunization records? and How?

Proms2009,

You will need to get your immunization records from either your physician, your parents, work or previous school. Your physician will definitely have a record of any of the immunizations they performed. Your parents may also have a records of these. For instance, my mom had a record that was signed by the physician each time I had an immunization and it had the date, type of immunization and signature. Your employer or previous school may also have these on record if you have provided them in the past. The required immunizations are Varicella (chickenpox) - either the immunization or date of disease, MMR #1 and #2, Hepatitis B #1, #2 and #3 and Tetorifice, Diptheria, Pertussis (Tdap). You will also need to have a skin test for TB.

Prior to orientation, they will send out specific paperwork detailing what you need to do and turn in at orientation. For instance, you will have to get a background check and drug test from Advantage Students (they will provide the link), but you will NOT perform the drug test until AFTER school starts (the first week of school). Otherwise you will have to re-do the test and pay again. Like I said, they will provide VERY detailed information in the orientation packet they send to you.
