GSU vs MCG

U.S.A. Georgia

Hey everyone! I just wanted to get some input and advice on two nursing schools that I am considering. I have already gotten my acceptance letter from Medical College of Georgia for Summer 2008, but I wanted to know much better or worse the nursing program is compared to Georgia State University. I had always thought that MCG might be a little bit better because it is a medically centered school. Would I get a better education out of GSU or MCG's program?

A few questions that I have are how many hours of clinical do nursing students get in per week at GSU (apparently at MCG it is roughly 20ish hours). What is an average week like for nursing students at GSU? What are my chances of getting into GSU's nursing program if I have a current 3.8 GPA (possibly 3.75 if I get a B in my chemistry class this semester) and have finished almost all my core classes? Would I have a better chance at getting a job depending on where I go, or is that irrelevant as long as I am a registered nurse? Does pay differ with different school programs, or is it irrelevant as well?

I am also a bit apprehensive about applying to GSU because if I do not get in, I have to wait another year before re-applying to MCG. I do not do so well on standardized tests, and I am afraid that I will not get a high enough score on the NET to be accepted to GSU's program (MCG did not require the NET, only GPA, SAT scores, and letters of recommendation).

I am not worried too worried about costs of education, although it would be nice to not have to take out a great deal of loans. I am really focused on which school would offer the best program.

Thanks!

Michelle

I am also very interested in hearing some thoughts on these two nursing schools compared (as they are both at the top of my list also) if anyone has any experiences to contribute. :)
