Emory Residency Program--your experience?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

I am very interested in pursuing a career with Emory, as I've had some of my clinical experiences there and have really liked it so far. My question is: what is the new graduate residency program like? Were you able to chose what floor and for what shift you wanted to apply for when you applied for the program?

Any pros and cons of the residency program (hours worked vs pay, stuff like that) would be greatly appreciated. I graduate soon and am trying to network as best I can with hospitals in the Atlanta area.

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

They might not be done. Don't take my word for it especially for other areas such as Midtown and Johns Creek. Even the University location might be doing last minute interviews. I know that oncology and neurology units were available for interviews at the University location this week. But I do know that official start dates for new grads are either 8/19 or 8/26.

Oh wow, good to know and glad I took my other offer then! Good luck smhong126! I am excited but nervous to start!

I'm so confused! I was under the impression that this program didn't start until September? Did that change, or is there multiple programs?

I got an email on Friday (8/9) for the questionnaire. It was from Darrell and it said they plan to start interviews the week of August 19. The title said "New Grad Residency October 2013". So I don't know if I applied to the same one you all are talking about. I have applied to so many jobs that it is all a blur lol! But I just wanted to share this information.

Thank you for the info!

I got a somewhat formal offer for the new grad residency in Emory Midtown's ED...all contingent on passing my NCLEX tomorrow heheh. I am moving from California. Any other new grads out there relocating to Atlanta or already living in Atlanta? :)

How was the interview?

I received an offer last week for a new grad position oncology position at Midtown. Start date is the 16th. So I think they are adding more groups.

Hi everyone! I'm scheduled for an interview with Emory Midtown for women's health in a few days, and since there's very little information about that specific residency, I thought to ask people who'd already been through the process or who know others who have. Did any of you go into women's health? If so, what was the process like? What units did they tend to place their new grads on? Thanks for any answers! If none of you went into women's health, I can just ask these questions at the interview - I just didn't want to seem like I hadn't done my homework on them first! :)
