I have been nurse there for years. Nurses are leaving due to poor work

conditions. patient to nurse ratio is high. alot of total care patients and

few CNA's to help. Situation here is going from bad to worse.

patient-nurse ratio high, total care pts, maybe, but in the birthing center???

I dont know about Coliseum, but I know about Macon - that is where I am from. I can tell you that Macon is a wonderful place to spend some time - it is close to Atlanta and beaches, has lots of beautiful architechture (antebellum homes, etc) and a lots of cultural and shopping opportunities - lots of history there also if you have any interest in that. It has its less-than-desirable areas, as does any city these days, and unfortunately those are now infringing upon areas that were formerly nice (my old neighborhood, for instance). Stick to the north side and the downtown area and you will be fine. If you wind up going there pm me and I'll give you some particulars on places to go, eat, shop, etc.

Unfortunately I do not know about the nursing side of it. Wish I did.

The Coliseum Northside Hospital in Macon is a 103 bed facility and has no NICU, you will have to go to the one downtown. My husband works at the Northside and says that he has been told that there running about 40-60 patients average bcuz its a small community hospital but, it is VERY clean and set back in the trees and Very hospitable to you.

Are you talking about the Coliseum Hospital in downtown Macon or are you speaking of Coliseum Nothside in North Macon? I'm a CNA.

I worked at CNH years ago. The moral of the nurses was very low. One nurse was the manager over both surgical and medical floor. Her philosophy was "My way or the highway". She managed through intimidation and bullying. The ironic thing is that she had no experience as a ward nurse be it surgical or medical. I hear they allowed her to resign after I moved on. I hope things are better for the nurses that stayed. I know I am better off in many ways for leaving when I did.

Any new info on Northside Coliseum? Like the conditions there

I just finished my OB rotation at Coliseum and absolutely loved it! It is much smaller than MCCG but all the nurses were great and its a nice facility!

thanks for the reply sweetbrunette

I used to work @ CNH as Surgery Secretary and I wa hired for a RN position as a CNA! I had so much trouble with CNH asking them to give me prpoer training for that position and they tried to root me out by giving me less work and I was not going to give up without a fight! I ended up going to other departments asking if they needed any CNA assistance and I would give them my time when needed. The DON @ CNH got word of it and terminated me for not being @ my OR desk and I explained to her why I had to do it and that my OR manager even left me out in the cold when the hosp. managers went to Coliseum downtown and did not give me proper prodical for when I got in a dificult situation.

I would like to go work for CNH or even Coliseum downtown but they keep throwing away my application for prior working @ CNH because of a termination of hiring me for an RN position and I am a CNA. Go figure!

I applied there as CNA for a PRN position but its better than no job at all. The think that p's me off is, you hear all these advertisements that nurses are in need. If we are in such a need then why are you not hiring us? Yes I call myself a nurse even though I assist. If I were not a nurse then......nurse should not be in my title at all.
