Clayton State Nursing Program Spring 2012

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hey! I am just starting this forum to see who else is applying for Clayon State's Spring 2012 BSN Program. I just applied and now the waiting begins..

Ohh okay maybe I will look into that one too if I'm not working that weekend. There is also a place I found called Georgia CPR LLC http://www.gacpr.com/openclass.html this is there website. They are located in Decatur, which isnt far from where I live. However, i asked my advisor if this would be okay to get it here and she forwarded my email to the lady in charge of documentation and she hasnt answered me yet..so if if i don't get a response back from her maybe ill just do the one in fayetville.

Well the lady emailed me back and said we can get the card whereever as long as it is the BLS for healthcare provider through American Heart Association. I think the place I found is..but I probably will just go ahead and sign up for the one in Fayetville on Fri Nov 11 from 9-12 pm just to be safe(since that is one of the places they recommended)

Hey Steph and inGodstime,

What is the name and phone number of the BLS CPR place? I want to pay for my regristration, so that will be one thing off my list. lol

hey mom2011!

the website for the place is http://www.ertss.com then just click on course schedule and look for the bcls for healthcare providers and it will give you the class days/times as well as the phone number! Have you heard anything from gsu yet?

Hi Steph6543,

No nothing yet, I called and they said it can be as late as mid Nov., that's why I am moving forward with CSU. I was at this web. site last night I think, but I did not see a fayetteville location. I will keep looking because that would be great, because my sister can keep my daughter while I am in class. Did you register yet?

I think that they only have one location which is in fayteville. I would just call the number that is on the website and double check though! I called and signed up for Friday November the 11th! And im glad you are choosing CSU! I havent seen you in class lately haha!

My daughter was having trouble with a bully believe it or not and I had to change her school. I come everyday but late. Trying to get her situtated she is still adjusting to a new school.

Hey I had a question for anyone that knows, since we are taking classes that are half semesters we wont hit our 12 hours of credit until mid semester, does that mean we wont get our financial aid refund until mid semester. Thats how it works in summer, i didnt get my refund until I actually started the 2nd half semester class. Thanks

Does anyone know how to figure out what books we will need for our classes?

Hey TM, you get your refund whenever everyone else get theirs. As long as your total credit hours for the semester is 12.

Steph, you would have to actually go to the book store to get a list of the books you will need unless you can get them from another student. I would suggest waiting just before the semester start to get books because they come in a bundle which is cheaper. Even if you think you can find them cheaper, you might end of still paying more than the bundle at the bookstore. The total for books is about $600-$700. However, those book will last you for the entire program except for two or 3 more books. Hope this helps..

Thanks for all of your help, I appreciate it, I have one more question....clinicals, is it just one day a week or two? Is it in the afternoon or morning- I have to tell my current job a guestimate of how many days I will be doing clinicals. They know I am cutting back drastically but I need to know so I can arrange my schedule accordingly. I cant talk to my advisor bc she keeps saying you cant really work and I am aware of tthat but my landlord doesnt accept hugs for rent :) I have to work a little, thanks again for all your insight I cant wait till jan orientation to figure all this out

Clinical is Tuesday and Wed from 645am - 130pm. There is one evening clinical at Rockdale, I believe from 3-9pm. You practice your skills on TW in the lab and then once lab is over you head over to the long term care facility for 3 days Tues, wednesday and then the following tuesday. After that you won't have to be on campus on TW until Hit 1 (health illness transition 1) which is the second half of the semester and you will be in the lab for a few days before going to the hospital for the rest of the semester on TW and one of those days you will have simulation day instead of going to the hospital
