Can a ASN/RN student take the CNA exam without taking the courses?

I am about to start my last year of nursing school (a two year ASN/RN program) in Georgia but am having a very hard time getting a job as a PCT. I was wondering if there was a way I could take the CNA exam without having to take the CNA courses, since I have already completed my first year of nursing school? I learned everything that you learn in the CNA courses my first semester of nursing school, but I don't know if I could sit for the CNA exam or not. Anyone know?? Please help! Thank you! :)

Your best bet would be to talk to your program - instructor/director on what you are able to do with your current level of edu. Since states vary, and so do people's memory on what's the current deal with these things, seeking out your school for help is your best bet without all the red tape attached.

In NC you can challenge the CNA 1 test. I don't know about other states. :)

Most states you can challenge the test. Find the people who do the CNA testing for your state and ask. CA you had to send in some paperwork and wait for an approval and then you could test. Of course you still pay for the test but you don't have to take the course. Usually they require only a first semester of nursing school.
